Customizing or Re-skinning Your Website Design Template
How much customization can we help with before a design or redesign turns into a custom design project? Details here . . . .
If done "right" it usually should not cost much to re-skin your website.
What does "right" mean?
Your skin sits on a fairly simple, rectangular template. You can alter
the look quite a bit without touching the template (an experienced web
designer will know how to do this.) If your designer can deliver images
that exactly replace the existing ones (size and naming), then it won't take us too much effort to do the reskin (which means negligible cost to you.)
The problem that we've seen, though, is that sometime a client brings an
outside designer who is either inexperienced or very ambitious
creatively, and the changes required force us to not only re-skin at the
image level, but also redo the template and potentially take care of
other issues and problems that this may cause. That's when re-skinning can get costly.
The good news is, since form and function are very much separated on our
system, you can absolutely re-skin and get a totally new look as often
as you want.
