Converting from Chapter to Enterprise...

It's time for some more power under the hood. Are you ready? The transfer to Enterprise is estimated in 2-4 hrs of work on your end. It mainly has to do with the conversion of data to the new data structure. See the scoop below:

Clubs migrating from the Chapter Platform to the Enterprise will have to follow these steps:

1. The Conversion Date: Decide on a Friday night in which to do the transfer. Your site may be down for up to 24 hrs (although we are quite good at this and have managed to do a complete transfer in as little as 37 minutes.) We recommend doing this on a Friday which does not precede any major events, membership drives, etc. Give yourself 7-14 days of buffer between the transfer and the next "big thing." We will call this all-important Friday night your Conversion Date.

2. Convert the data: The Enterprise User Data Set is much broader in scope than the Chapter's. You will need to download a data dump from Manage Users and re-arrange the columns to fit the new MUUT (Master User Upload Template) .

Here are the important parts:
a. Make sure that you keep the UID (User IDs) consistent. Otherwise, a person's orders on the "old" site will be confused with someone else who inherited his/her UID. This is CRITICAL.
b. Make sure that the AUX_ID value is there as well. You get that value from the school (this is essentially the Alum ID).
c. Go through this process on the afternoon of the Conversion Date. Otherwise, if you start too early, some users may alter their data, or buy membership between when you do this, and the actual conversion. That data will be lost.

We cannot emphasize enough how important the previous paragraph is. Please pay meticulous attention to these 3 items.

3. Sign up for Google Analytics: This will be your new traffic reporting tool. It is very nifty. Please see section 3.7 of the Welcome Page for more details.

Finally, after your site has been converted, please browse through its various pages. You will notice some artifacts (accented characters not being properly translated and may appear as question marks). This is caused by a different encoding scheme on the new system. Scan for these and correct them via the Manage Articles function.

Finally, test your Single Sign On functionality by using your Life Long Email. Have several of your fellow members try this as well.

Now for the fun part...
You will notice many changes - small or large - from what you are used to. Improvements, new features, etc... Most should be pretty self-explanatory. Poke around and see if anything is unclear. If anything seems off, please make one list of questions and send them to us.

Good luck, and we'll soon see you on the board of the Enterprise, Captain Kirk.
